Westinghouse iGen160s Portable Power Station
Westinghouse iGen160s Portable Power Station is designed as a versatile power source for people who like outdoor activities like fishing, camping, hunting, traveling, spending some time off-the-grid, and similar.
Westinghouse iGen160s is a compact and lightweight unit, being able to recharge most modern appliances via various USB charging ports, but it is also able to power smaller home appliances even for several hours.
Westinghouse iGen160s Power Station Features and Specifications
Westinghouse iGen160s uses lithium-ion battery to store ~155 Wh of energy, which is then released when required in the form of 5V DC, 12V DC, and 120V AC electric power. Since the power is provided by the onboard battery, Westinghouse iGen160s is safe to use even indoors - this is a power station, not a power generator which uses fossil fuels (diesel, gas, propane, etc.) to power internal combustion engines in order to produce electric energy.
Note: never operate power generator indoors since they emit smelly and toxic fumes, carbon-monoxide included. On the other hand, battery-powered power stations like Westinghouse iGen160s are safe for indoor use.
The unit is rated at 100 watts, but it is also able to provide 150 watts of peak power for short periods of time.
Westinghouse iGen160s features physical dimensions of only (L x W x H) 8.14 x 3.77 x 7 inches (~20.7 x 9.6 x 17.8 cm) and it weighs 3.75 pounds (~1.7 kg) - unit can be carried in the backpack or via builtin handle. On the longer journeys, it easily fits in any car, truck RV, boat, kayak, etc.
Power outlets include:
- 2x 120V AC household outlets,
- 3x 12V DC 5.5 mm ports,
- 2x 5V 2.1 Amps USB,
- 1x 5V 2.0 Amps USB-C,
- 1x 2.0 Amps QualComm Quick Charge 3.0 USB Port.
Also, Westinghouse iGen160s comes with an ultrabright LED light that also features Strobe and SOS modes and a side LED Light Panel.
Note: Westinghouse iGen160s is a very easy and intuitive unit for use and maintenance. Nonetheless, when it arrives be sure to read the manual and get accustomed to your new power station.
The control panel is positioned on a side, and its display shows the remaining battery charge, AC/DC status, and includes DC, AC, USB, and charging indicators.
Safety features include short circuit protection, overload protection, over-voltage protection, over-current protection, low voltage protection, and temperature control, including over- and under-temperature protection.
Westinghouse iGen160s portable power station can be recharged in three ways:
- wall socket (charger included, charging time ~6 hours),
- car charger (charger and cigarette lighter plug included, charging time 6-7 hours),
- solar panel (NOT included).
Westinghouse iGen160s may be recharged using any DC 13-25 volts 2 Amps solar panel that comes with a 5.5 x 3.2 mm DC connector. Such solar panels are able to recharge the Westinghouse iGen160s in 6-8 hours, depending on the weather, charging conditions, and similar.
Long Story Short: If you are looking for easy to use and maintain, compact and lightweight portable power station, consider Westinghouse iGen160s.
It is able to recharge smartphones, tablets, laptops, drones, cameras, and similar devices several times, and is able to power smaller home appliances for hours, depending on their actual load.
For example, fully charged Westinghouse iGen160s is able to power smaller 35-40 watts LED/LCD TV up to three hours, with some energy even remaining in the battery.
Also, by combining solar panel and Westinghouse iGen160s, outdoor enthusiasts practically become independent on the mains power and can roam (go fishing!) for a longer period of time.
