Maglite Mag-Tac LED 2-Cell CR123 Flashlight is very popular and robust flashlight from very reputable manufacturer. Maglite Mag-Tac LED flashlight is excellent EDC (Every Day Carry) flashlight, but also it can be used by fishermen, hunters, police, military personal and everybody else that need strong and reliable light source.
MAGTAC™ CR123 LED Flashlight comes in two versions: crowned bezel and plain bezel. These two flashlights are very similar, but they differ in several very important details:
Mag-Tac CR123 LED Flashlight - Crowned Bezel: it comes with, of course, with crowned bezel and Momentary, Full Power, and Strobe functions. Its design is oriented more toward security, defense and similar situations.
Mag-Tac CR123 LED Flashlight - Plain Bezel: it comes, obviously, with plain bezel and Momentary, Full Power, and Power Save functions. Its design is oriented more toward EDC, camping, hiking and various emergency situations, where long shelf life (often 7+ years) of CR123 batteries and power save mode come to play.
For short - crowned bezel doesn't come with power save mode, while plain bezel doesn't have strobe mode.

Crowned bezel version also has slightly stronger light (320 vs 310 lumens) and longer reach (193 vs 182m), but don't let that be the reason when deciding which one better suits your needs, since real life difference is negligible.
Physical dimensions - MAGTAC CR123 LED Flashlight is very compact and light flashlight. Its weight in the table (4.8 oz - 136 g) is the weight with the batteries. Also, flashlight is compact enough to be carried around in the backpacks, larger pockets or using pocket/belt clip.
Design and materials - this flashlight is made using anodized aluminum to be both strong and lightweight. Flashlight is strong enough to be resistant to drops from 1m height onto hard surface like concrete or similar. Also, knurled body design ensures firm grip even in wet and muddy conditions.
Water resistance: IPX4 - flashlight is resistant to splashing water from any direction for 10 (ten) minutes. Obviously, this is not a flashlight to be taken for diving, but for most outdoors situations, this is good enough.
Power Source: MAGTAC CR123 LED Flashlight uses 2 (two) CR123 non-rechargeable lithium 3V batteries. This flashlights can't accpet 18650 battery, but it can accept 17650 battery - but it will not work with 17650 battery.
Although not supported officially by manufacturer (or explicitly denied), some users tried and successfully use rechargeable CR123 batteries with MAGTAC CR123 LED Flashlight. Note that such batteries have slightly larger voltage (3.6-3.7V vs 3V) and slightly smaller capacity than non-rechargeable CR123 batteries.
For general use, non-rechargeable CR123 batteries are recommended choice, especially for EDC flashlights and other flashlights that are not going to be used on a daily basis.
Maglite Mag-Tac LED Flashlights comes in several colors, too: Black, Crimson Red, Coyote Tan, Urban Gray and Foliage Green.
Tactical flashlights and self defense: strong strobe light can disorient potential attacker and crowned bezel can cause significant damage when aimed in the head or face. Also, pieces of DNA left on the bezel can help identify attacker later.
However, crowned bezel or not, aluminum flashlight can cause serious injuries, when the strike is strong enough, just the crown emphasize/increase 'local pressure' on the tissue itself. Be sure that such strike/punch is justified legally ...
Long Story Short - Maglite Mag-Tac LED 2-Cell CR123 Flashlight is not the cheapest tactical flashlight and far from being the brightest. However, in terms of robustness and durability, it is comparable with more expensive tactical and EDC LED flashlight.
If you need a good flashlight for EDC and emergency situations, or you like outdoors activities, consider this flashlight.
