Wire is made using 49 bare strands (7x7) of a high strength, corrosion resistant, type 304 stainless steel.

Wire provides very good bite protection against shark and other big game fish with sharp teeth and strong jaws.

Due to numerous strands, line is very flexible, abrasion and kink resistant and very durable.

afw-49-strand-7x7-leader-wire-2mWire comes in two colors ('Bright' and 'Camouflage Brown'), numerous lengths (30, 300, 500, 1000 feet - 9.15, 91.5, 152.5, 305 m) and test strengths (90, 175, 275, 400, 480, 600, 800, 900 pounds - 40.8, 79.3, 124.6, 181.2, 217.4, 271.8, 362.4, 407.7 kg). Note that not all lines are available in all lengths.

If you really like deep sea fishing and fishing on sharks, barracudas and similar fish species, this or similar steel wires are 'must have'.

Note that 90 pounds wire is actually 3x7 strands construction - line is still flexible, abrasion and kink resistant and very durable.

If you need only a few of wire leaders and you have opportunity to buy finished wire leaders, be sure to do that. On the other hand, if you do require many wire leaders (for example, for deep sea longline!), then be sure to get a good wire cutter, a good crimping pliers or swager and number of double barrel crimp sleeves.

If you are new to making wire leaders, take your time and don't rush. Also, it is good thing to test the breaking strength of made wire leaders - of course, not to the breaking point :)

Whipping issues - as all multi-strand wires, this ones also tend to whip on lose ends, but not much as one might expect.
